LONDON GASTROLAB

May 2019

ETSAUnav

Located on Sugar House Island, a site with rich industrial heritage involving a wide variety of different agricultural practices, gastroLAB takes visitors back to the origin of food, were food is cultivated in primary conditions and indulged in a cautious matter. They say, we are what we eat, but they also say, we are what we create. Awareness on this global crisis of massive growing food waste production is implemented through this gastronomic journey in order to educate and discipline visitors.

The project involves the rehabilitation of three different existing buildings, located in the northeast quarter of Sugar House Island, that are unified by the implementation of double height spaces and connecting bridges between the different levels of the different infrastructures. These buildings are the following marked on the site 4 north eastern quarter of the Sugar House Masterplan.
